BK-NY-USA Invites EE Supporters to Cash Mob at Brooklyn Festival

Queens, New York. BK-NY-USA, the Made in America initiative invites the Empowerment Experiment (EE) members to a Cash Mob to support SoHe Designs during the International African Arts Festival (IAAF) on Saturday, June 30 from 4:00pm to 7pm at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn near the Navy yards. The 41th annual Festival is scheduled for June 30 through July 4, 2012 rain or shine.

The Cash Mob asks that everyone attending will the event to spend at least $20.00 with SoHe Designs. SoHe Designs will offer its line of African inspired home décor and accessories from table linens to pillow shams made in America to the signature tea sets and dinnerware designed by Barbara Garnes.
BK-NY-USA was founded by EE New York partner Ms. Garnes in an effort to promote small businesses of the African
heritage community who manufacture products in Brooklyn and the United States and connect them with consumers and industries. She encourages locals to come out and support the black businesses that will be exhibiting. She is also partnering with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to promote the event and to contact retailers in the local vicinity .

Maggie Anderson (Empowerment Experiment), Barbara Garnes (BK-NY-USA, founder & EE NY partner, SoHe Designs, CEO
“This year we focus on Brooklyn as the destination location. Tourism has been very good for the city's economy. And the demand for Made in America products is growing every moment” , says Barbara. “Our Black businesses can benefit from this.”

The IAAF annually hosts “pop-up shops” of grass roots entrepreneurs selling an assortment of products from both the African Diaspora and made in the USA. The outdoor festival offers an arena to showcase products and gives both the tourists and retail buyers the best in product design: Apparel, jewelry, home décor, textiles, natural hair products, bath & body products, fine arts, hand crafts and stationery; plus the hottest fashion trend -African inspired design!

“My wish is that the EE members bring others with them to the event,” continues Garnes. “ If they know any store that needs products by black businesses that they tell the buyer to shop this festival. It's going to be a great weekend!”
Visitors to the event will find a welcome booth with exhibitor information and for store buyer registration. Booths will have trend boards and space for networking between the buyers and the designers. Arrangements are scheduled with
MadeInNYC.org for local contractors to meet up with designers seeking to expand their manufacturing capabilities.
For more information, to read the blog and to review the designers go to www.bknyusa.com. Store buyers can register on the website.
